Elite National Championships Wildcard Athletes

The High Performance Committee is accepting applications in advance of Provincials so that a Committee representative is able to observe a potential candidate’s bout(s) at Golden Gloves. 

Deadline to Submit: Monday, October 19 @ 12pm ET

Athletes wishing to be considered for a wildcard entry must submit their applications before the deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.

About Wildcards:

Wildcard spots provide podium-potential athletes with a “backup” path to competing at Nationals, even if they do not finish in 1st or 2nd place at Provincial Championships. Factors such as tough draws and other circumstances can impact results, but wildcard entries give deserving athletes another chance to showcase their talent.

The High Performance Committee will consider the following when selecting wildcard athletes:

• Performance at the 2026 Golden Gloves Provincial Championships
• Performance during previous High Performance Camps and Wildcard Sparring sessions
• The athlete’s completed wildcard athlete application (more information below)
• Registration with Boxing Ontario for 2026
• Availability for a Team training camp on October 25 

Athlete Eligibility:

• Be a registered 2026/2027 competitive member in good standing with Boxing Ontario and completed your yearly medical
• Not have any outstanding fees payable to Boxing Canada/Boxing Ontario
• Must have competed/registered to compete in Boxing Ontario’s 2026 Golden Gloves Provincial Championships.(Doctor’s note required if athlete unable to compete due to injury or illness)
• Must be Elite-age athlete (1987-2008) 19 to 40 years

Required Documents:

• Photos of your record book including photo ID page and all bout/record logs
• Must be able to provide proof of Permanent Residence of Canada and/or Canadian Citizenship
