If you have a passion for the sport of boxing and you are willing to undergo training to receive certification, consider joining our ranks of dedicated idividuals who are essential to the safety and integrity of boxing.

BOXING ONTARIO OFFICIALS PATHWAY
LEVEL 1 OFFICIAL REQUIREMENTS (Regional Level)
To Become
- Attend a Level 1 Officials Clinic* and complete the Level 1 Official written test at end of clinic (minimum 80%)
- Contact your Regional Supervisor for list of upcoming events to do a training (a sparring session, club show or tournament)
- Confirm with Regional Supervisor at which event you’ll do your referee/judge training
- Regional Supervisor approves your request to be a Level 1 Official
- Completed a minimum online Virtual Training platform judging and refereeing units, 10 of each
To Maintain
- Have an up-to-date Police Records Check (PRC); Abuse Free Sport Declaration; and become a member in good standing with Boxing Ontario as an Official
- Actively participate in your Region’s events learning the functions of time-keeper, judge, and/or referee at sanctioned events
- Keep your certification current by attending a clinic or recertification BEFORE your certification expires.
- Maintain regular contact with your mentor
- Maintain a record of activities in R&J Booklet
*The cost of the Officials Clinic includes your membership with Boxing Ontario for the year.
LEVEL 2 OFFICIAL REQUIREMENTS (Regional Level)
To Become
- Be registered as a Boxing Ontario Member
- Actively participate in your region with satisfactory performance
- Working as a Level 1 Official for a minimum of one year
- Be proficient as a time-keeper, judge and/or referee
- Have completed 25 bouts as a judge and/or referee
- Pass the online Level 2 Advancement Readiness test with a minimum score of 80% or better
- Completed a minimum online Virtual Training platform judging and refereeing units, 25 of each
To Maintain
- Maintaining a current Boxing Ontario Membership as an Official
- Actively participate in your region with satisfactory performance
- Must work at least one minor tournament per year, which must be notated in your Officials passbook
- Keep your certification current by re-certifying at an Officials Clinic or R/J workshop
- Maintain regular contact with your mentor
- Maintain a record of activities in R&J Booklet
LEVEL 3 OFFICIAL REQUIREMENTS (Provincial Level)
To Become
- Have been a registered member of Boxing Ontario for at least 2 years
- Actively participate in your region with satisfactory performance
- Work as a Level 2 Official for a minimum of 1 year
- Be proficient as time-keeper, judge, referee, and weigh-ins
- Must have worked at a minor or major tournament in Ontario
- Have completed 50 bouts (total) as a judge and/or referee
- Complete a minimum online Virtual Training platform judging and refereeing units, 35 of each
- Sponsorship of own Regional Supervisor and one additional member of the Ontario Officials Commission; approved by the Provincial Official
- Pass the online Level 3 Advancement Readiness test (evaluated by a World Boxing Certified Official) with a minimum score of 80% or better
To Maintain
