Puebla, Mexico — Boxing Canada’s National Team is competing at the 2026 Pan-American Elite Continental Boxing Championships, taking place October 17–25 at the Miguel Hidalgo Gymnasium in Puebla, Mexico. The team has received the bout schedule and is now looking forward to eight exciting days of competition.
As the first official continental qualification event for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, the tournament serves as a crucial milestone in Canada’s international calendar. Across the 14 Olympic weight categories, top finishers will secure coveted qualification quota places for Lima 2027, in addition to accumulating critical World Boxing ranking points ahead of the World Boxing World Championships this coming April. The team is led by two-time Olympian and former World Champion Tammara Thibeault.
All the athletes took advantage of an international training camp before the event in Mexico to prepare for the 2100m of altitude. The acclimatization and international training partners provided a fantastic opportunity to maximize the time in Mexico.
“Our team has put in tremendous effort to prepare for this championship, and I’d say that the athletes are ready,” said Head Coach Vincent Auclair. “This event is a vital stepping stone for our athletes to not only qualify for the PanAm Games and secure essential world ranking points, but it is also a good test for our top athletes to prepare for the Olympic Games qualification coming in one year.”
National Team Coach Ariane Fortin shared the excitement: “The dedication and focus these boxers have shown throughout our preparatory camp have been exceptional. With the draw now finalized, the team is dialed in, confident, and ready to compete.”
Supporters and fans across Canada can follow live coverage and watch each bout live on the Panam Sports Channel.
