Boxing Ontario’s High Performance (HP) Committee hosted a sparring session at Kingsway Boxing to help athletes prepare for the Golden Gloves: Provincial Championships, October 15-18 in Brampton, and National Championships in November.
The session also gave the HP Committee an opportunity to observe athletes in action and assess potential wildcard candidates.
Wildcard opportunities offer a select number of podium-potential athletes with a valuable ‘backup’ path to Nationals and another chance to showcase their talent.
Applications for Elite Nationals Wildcards are open until Monday, October 19, at 12 p.m. ET. This deadline allows the Committee to select athletes in advance of the Provincial Team training camp on October 25. (More info to follow).
The HP Committee encourages athletes to apply before Provincials so a Committee representative can audit potential candidates’ bouts at Golden Gloves, October. Learn more about the wildcard application process here.
