Six Ontario Athletes Represent Canada at the Rival Boxing Championship in Oklahoma City

Six U17 Ontario athletes are proudly representing Canada at the prestigious Rival Boxing Championship in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Rui Mendes (M50kg): Bushido Boxing, London, ON
Curtis Realba (M54kg): Fighting Island Boxing Club, Amherstburg, ON
Brooklyn Kaufman (W57kg): Waterloo Regional Boxing Academy, Waterloo, ON
Partap Dosanjh (M57kg): King of the Ring, Brampton, ON
Cassius Smith (M66kg): Boomerz Boxing, London, ON
Alessandro Verrelli (M75kg): Posteraro’s Boxing Gym, Oshawa, ON

The Canadian delegation, consisting of 11 athletes in total, was selected based on their outstanding performances at the 2026 National Championships held in Calgary, AB. Rounding out the team are:

Isabella Meredith (W52kg) – Calgary Boxing Club, AB
Liam Pagaling (M52kg) – Calgary Boxing Club, AB
Memphis McIntosh (M55kg) – Boxing Club Spruce Grove, AB
Lionel Azuni (M57kg) – Impact Boxing Club, AB
Jakop Brandt (M63kg) – Lonsdale Boxing Club, SK

This tournament, hosted the weekend of July 24, 2026, offers a vital opportunity for Canada’s U17 boxers to gain valuable international competition experience, challenge themselves against high-level opponents, and further their development on their journeys toward future national and international success.

Joining the team from Ontario are Coach Brett Lucier of Boomerz Boxing in London, ON, and Jessica Sparrow of Calgary Boxing Club, who will support the team throughout the competition. The team is led by Head Coach Brad Ross of Nova Scotia.

The 3rd Annual Rival Amateur Boxing Championship is an important platform for Canada’s promising next generation of boxers to build international experience, represent their clubs, provinces, and country, and showcase their skills on a global stage. The learning opportunities, confidence and expertise will be invaluable to advance their Olympic-style boxing careers.

Boxing Ontario would like to wish the U17 team from Ontario and Canada all the best at the Rival Championship.
